Job purpose & Scope

Establish, analyze and optimize the commodities sourcing strategy, ensuring alignment with business goals by delivering product leadership, cost competitiveness, capacity growth, long term contracts, relationship management with global and local commodity supply base.

 

Commodities include Steel (CRCA, HR, Stainless Steel), Resins (mainly ABS, PP), Copper, Aluminium, Brass, Packaging Paper, and others.

Major Areas of Responsibilities

  • Commodity sourcing strategies for Short, Medium, long term based on business plan
  • Development and Strategic relationship management with commodity suppliers at Global and Local suppliers
  • Capacity alignment / commitment based on annual requirement  
  • Analyzing price trend and calculating procurement costs through TCO approach and developing cost reduction strategies through negotiation, benchmarking, alternate material options, import vs local etc.
  • Prepare Costing Calendar commodity wise and its adherence
  • Negotiating contracts with key suppliers, including costs and supply terms, service, and quality.
  • Analyze supplier proposals and facilitate fact-based supplier selection process.
  • Share of business management between different suppliers - for better cost, flexibility-in-sourcing and availability
  • Collaborating with operations and category sourcing team to identify issues on delivery and get relevant solutions
  • Competition Intelligence and analysis
  • Analyzing Risk through various matrix and ensure business continuity plan in place
  • Ensure Product quality compliance as per the regulatory standards and company SOPs-work with quality function and supply partner on-ground for upgradation activities
  • Lead meetings with CFT to drive projects related to cost reduction, supplier assessment/development, product quality and supplier rating
  • Based on supplier rating - identify root causes and work with internal and external stakeholders to drive efficient resolution
  • Regular supply partner visits to keep tab on adherence of buying policies

Essential Qualification: BE Mechanical / BE Production

Desired Qualification:  MBA

Experience: Minimum 10-15 years  (in handling commodities)

Industry Preference: Experience in Consumer Durables
